The Forbidden Fruit…Farm Tour #2
It always amazes me that the desert can be the source of so much abundance…truly forbidden fruit…
VenAmour Farms/Forbidden Fruit Winery–Cawston, British Columbia. Part of the Farm Tour Series

I had the pleasure of visiting Steve Venables and Kim Brind’Amour at their farm just outside of Osoyoos. I was overwhelmed with the magnitude of what they had accomplished in 30 years of farming. When they purchased the hundred acre property there was no previous agriculture on the land. They broke ground for every bit of the 30 desert acres allocated to orchards and vineyards. They also work in conjunction with the Land Conservatory to preserve a portion of their land and the ecosystems and animals who habitate there. They provide local markets with a wide variety of unique asian apple varieties as well as some of the best cherries I have ever had, their Forbidden Fruit Winery produces some amazing fruit wines and somewhere along the way Kim still finds time to persue her art–stunning glass mosaic pieces and paintings.
